Message: FOOD (MEAT) PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT TECHNOLOGIST
NATURE AND SCOPE: reports directly to the reports to Manager of Product Development;
involves product development and improvement, including product design,
evaluation and implementation; prepare and develop initial product specifications
and refine after interfacing with Suppliers, Purchasing, Marketing, Quality
Assurance, and Manufacturing prior to pilot processing; a "hands on" role with a lot
of involvement with key personnel in most other Departments, and with Suppliers;
involves limited sensory evaluation; involves a wide range of products including
various meats from bench top to full production scale up; kettle processed foods are
involved; very moderate travel (10-15%).
LOCATION: "Sunbelt", four (4) seasons environment; Dallas/Ft. Worth metro
area; no state income tax; moderate cost of living; viable housing options in urban,
suburban, small city, or even rural areas within viable commute; full amenities
include -universities, entertainment, recreational and spectator sports, social
activities, etc.
COMPENSATION: Competitive base salary, and comprehensive benefits.
REQUIREMENTS: EXPERIENCE - directly related experience developing food products required;
preference for a wide range product experience including meats, entrees, soups, gravies,
chili, etc. OTHER SKILLS: knowledge of food processing, R & D methodology; knowledge of
kitchen, laboratory, and food processing environments; computer literate; professional
communication skills (oral and written) and positive interpersonal skills;
EDUCATION: four year degree minimum; prefer Food Science, Food
Technology, Meat Science, or food processing oriented Animal Science; other
combinations of education and related experience may qualify.
